Professional Bio
Dr Katrine Del Villar is a member of the Australian Centre for Health Law Research and a senior lecturer in the School of Law at Queensland University of Technology (QUT). She researches legal issues in end of life decision making, mental health law, advance decision-making, consent and capacity. Katrine is an investigator on the Commonwealth government-funded End-of-Life Law for Clinicians project (ELLC), which provides comprehensive end-of-life legal training for health professionals and aged care practitioners. She was also a member of the QUT team involved in writing the mandatory training for practitioners participating in voluntary assisted dying in Western Australia and Queensland. Prior to joining QUT, Katrine worked as an associate to Justice Gaudron of the High Court, as a solicitor in private practice for a national firm, and as a research officer for the Commonwealth Parliamentary Library.
